Results & Support
NOTICE 9/11/2018: Due to the impending storm, Surgical Weight Loss Support Group sessions at all three locations (Mary Immaculate, Harbour View and Healthy Way) will be canceled this Thursday, September 13th. Stay safe.
The best preparation for successful weight loss surgery is learning about the ways it changes your life. That’s why we require prospective bariatric patients to attend at least one of our monthly support group meetings. Support Group is an hour long program that includes surgical weight loss patients at every stage of their weight loss journey.
Our Surgical Weight Loss Support groups meet on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 6:00 PM.

Support Group is real talk from men and women who are living with a weight loss surgery. Some had their surgery one, three or five years prior, others, just weeks before. They have found that the support group is an important part of their recovery process.
Our support group was started to help patients’ connect with each other to handle real life after surgery issues – dietary, social, emotional, and cosmetic (loose skin, etc.). Patients come together to discuss solutions with others speak from personal experience. Our staff attends all meetings and is available to answer questions.
Studies show patients who actively participate in a support group have better outcomes than those who do not. Bon Secours Surgical Weight Loss Center hosts support group meetings at three Bon Secours facilities: the Bon Secours Health Center at Harbour View, the Bon Secours Health Center at Virginia Beach, and Bon Secours Mary Immaculate Hospital. The meetings are held the 2nd Thursday evening of each month at 6:00 p.m. Call 889-CARE for more information.
